Sales Manager: Suzy Sivertson
I’m the “Free Range Farmer” at Hakken Hill Farm. I’m of the age where I go where I’d like to go and do what I’d like to do….which is just about everything on our family farm! Whether I am planting, cleaning, packing boxes, or weeding (my favorite) I am in my element. Our farm has provided me with a whole other venue in life. I’ve been a teacher that has worked with the gifted and talented population in schools. I’ve done this for over 20 years and am still working as a Gifted Coordinator in our local school district. This year I will be planning a school garden with students that have studied sustainable living. Our farm has motivated me to share our “better way” of eating with my students! If you visit Haaken Hill look for the lady with a huge smile on her face, her favorite holey jeans on, and a special grandchild by her side…say hello to Suzy.
Greenhouse Manager: Krissa Reeves
I guess you could think of me as the "Seeder" at Haaken Hill Farm. I enjoy planning and starting our plants for the greenhouse and for the fields. This year my focus was on the greenhouse and what would grow the best during our CSA season. I can share that I learned a lot about successful tomatoes and lunch peppers. Several of our tomato plants reached the ceiling in the greenhouse this season and they are still producing beautiful tomatoes in October. The two darling little girls you see helping on the farm are my husband, Jeremy, and mine. They are the first generation in our family to start eating "clean" at a very young age. Both of them enjoy our farm work, especially the part that involves getting very dirty! By profession I am a PTA and enjoy teaching at the Chippewa Valley Technical College part-time. If you visit the farm look for me in the greenhouse or in the fields wearing the largest straw hat around.
Chris Silewski and his wife Ingrid moved to Eau Claire from Denver, Colorado. This is "Dirt Boy" and it is his vision of permaculture and sustainable living that inspired Haaken Hill Farm. Chris is our human library when it comes to planning and questions about our vegetables. He is a Landscape Architect by profession and has a clear passion for the environment. His wife, Ingrid, is an Executive Meeting Planner and mother of two wonderful little boys. She keeps us in-line with careful planning and time saving suggestions at the farm. The actual dirty part of the farm is not her "thing", but when it comes to planning out the barn, the is right there helping out! Both their boys eat healthy and clean. Henrik loves to pick the lunchbox peppers off the plant and just eat them like a piece of candy. Many times you see him munching on a pulled carrot out in the garden!
Papa, Dad, or Kris holding the Haaken Hill Farm newest addition, Hans! Yeah, more farm workers! Kris is also a Landscape Architect by profession and has a passion for the land. Right now on HHF he is working on a DNR approved Wetland Scrape. This will restore an area on the farm to it's origional purpose and provide the garden with quality soil that has washed off the land from previous years of traditional farming. We give Kris many projects on the farm because of his working flexibility and desire to improve the RSA and CSA business. You may find him in the field creating a new irrigation portion of the garden or you may find him prepping beds for planting...or you may find him playing with Henrik on a tractor!
Jeremy is Krissa's husband and our granddaughters father! We have him working on anything and everything at the farm. He knows a lot about small equipment and is able to repair and maintain our planting equipment. In other words, a life saver! Jeremy assists with seeding, planting, building, bed preparing, and flame weeding. By profession he is a Radiology Technician at Oak Leaf Hospital/Chippewa Valley Sports Medicine. He was originally raised in the heart of Florida and has remained an avid Gator fan, but he's adapted to the midwest and actually enjoys the different seasons up north. Just don't get him started on orange blossom time in Florida!
